The University of La Verne's Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program equips students to become certified athletic trainers who serve as compassionate, globally-minded leaders from varied backgrounds, developing the expertise to serve as skilled, principled, cooperative, and distinguished healthcare professionals. This MSAT curriculum readies students for the Board of Certification (BOC) exam by covering all mandated educational standards and clinical skills through a rigorous blend of classroom learning and hands-on practice. Following a cohort structure, the program launches each fall and spans two academic years (Fall-January-Spring-Summer-Fall-January-Spring).
Rooted in evidence-based methods, the initial year concentrates on essential knowledge and techniques organized by body regions (such as lower extremities in fall and upper extremities/head/spine in spring), while the second year emphasizes comprehensive patient care. During their final term, students complete CAATE's required immersive clinical rotation, dedicating at least four weeks exclusively to fieldwork. The program's design consciously embodies our institution's commitment to diversity and inclusion.
