The University of New Mexico provides a Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program. This graduate-level curriculum prepares students for certification as Athletic Trainers. Graduates will qualify to take the Board of Certification (BOC) examination after finishing the program.
UNM's athletic training program boasts small class sizes, two specialized hybrid classroom/laboratory areas, and two simulation spaces exclusively for the program. Students gain clinical experience at top-tier sites (including military, professional sports, collegiate, high school, and other environments) and can undertake a full-time clinical placement anywhere in the U.S. during their final term. The program emphasizes Interprofessional Education (IPE), with all MSAT graduates earning an IPE Honors Certificate.
