Public policy decisions serve as the framework through which societies tackle issues like healthcare, education, housing, energy, poverty, economic development, and environmental protection. These policies represent collective choices that influence public spending, shape legislation, define services and protections, steer market dynamics, and distribute societal advantages and responsibilities. The field of public policy incorporates insights from diverse areas such as political science, legal studies, economics, sociology, history, urban planning, geography, and environmental science. These policy determinations mold community trajectories and transform global realities.
Our program employs the unique Delaware Model for public policy instruction, blending scholarly rigor with hands-on practice. Learners collaborate directly with professors and practitioners to solve real-world problems faced by communities and institutions, applying theoretical knowledge in practical settings. Our instructors bring substantial experience from government agencies, nonprofit groups, and corporate environments. The communities we serve function as active learning environments where students apply their expertise to create tangible impact. Biden School undergraduates can also pursue our 4+1 programs, providing an accelerated route to obtain both bachelor's and master's degrees simultaneously.
