The Department of Political Science and Public Administration within UW-La Crosse's College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities provides comprehensive degree programs in both political science and public administration at the major and minor levels. Students can also participate in an honors program and join a distinguished honor society for exceptional achievers.
Our department emphasizes the importance of hands-on learning experiences, offering unique political science student opportunities. We take pride in our robust internship program, allowing students to earn up to 12 academic credits while gaining practical experience with government offices, legal practices, and other organizations. These internships often include compensation, consistently enhance post-graduation employment prospects, and sometimes offer international placements. Beyond internships, we actively support Model United Nations, Mock Trial competitions, and various global study tours.
Our academic focus spans public administration, pre-law studies, international relations, and American government. We offer specialized internships, unique learning experiences, and career guidance in these disciplines. Numerous alumni have established successful careers in Wisconsin state government and federal agencies, while others have excelled in law school and graduate programs, earning advanced degrees.
