This discipline examines policy, governance, and legal systems, providing insights into how power, authority, influence, control, freedom, wealth, and other political resources are contested, obtained, and allocated. Students also learn how these elements translate into public policies, governmental actions, and legal frameworks.
Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Politics and Government will: Gain knowledge of political systems and institutions operating at local, national, and global levels. Acquire the ability to interpret and assess diverse materials that describe, analyze, and critique political events while developing thoughtful perspectives on their own political beliefs. Learn to recognize, utilize, and critically examine political arguments. Develop proficiency in understanding, applying, and evaluating various quantitative and qualitative research methods in political science. Apply this knowledge and these competencies through both spoken and written communication.
