Political science examines power dynamics and governance systems, with emphasis on formal and informal political institutions. This field also explores political actions, decision-making processes, economic-political interactions, and relationships between state and society.
The discipline comprises four main specializations: American politics, addressing national and local governance, electoral systems, and constitutional frameworks; comparative politics, analyzing political structures across nations through individual case studies and cross-country comparisons; international relations, investigating state behavior in global contexts including security policies, diplomatic strategies, international institutions, and economic interactions; and political theory, examining historical philosophical thought and fundamental concepts like justice and freedom.
Interdisciplinary subjects such as political economy, which explores intersections between economic and political systems, connect with these specializations while forming distinct study areas. Analytical techniques, including statistical methods and theoretical modeling, also play a crucial role in the field.
