The African American Studies program collaborates with the School of Law to provide a combined four-year degree option, allowing students to earn a Master of Arts in their initial year followed by a Juris Doctor degree over the next three years. Prospective students must meet standard admission criteria for both programs and additionally provide the African American Studies department with: (1) a personal statement outlining their background, intended interdisciplinary focus between African American studies and law, and professional aspirations, (2) LSAT results instead of GRE scores, and (3) authorization to access their Law School application records.
