Those applying for the combined MA/PhD in Government need to submit two distinct applications, each with its own set of documents (academic records, personal essays, and reference letters) along with all necessary components for both programs. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) and the Government Department evaluate applications independently, with admitted candidates expected to fulfill or surpass the criteria for both degrees. The SFS Master of Arts in Latin American Studies offers an intensive, cross-disciplinary curriculum tailored for students aiming for professional roles in governmental, corporate, and global institutions worldwide, as well as those considering further academic study in humanities or social sciences fields. MA candidates usually specialize in one of these key areas: Governance and Leadership, Development and Political Economy, or History, Culture, and Society.
