To be considered for admission to the Microbiology M.S. program, applicants must fulfill these requirements: they need to specify a laboratory they'll join directly and secure their own funding. After selecting a primary advisor for direct admission, the advisor must submit a letter endorsing the candidate to the MGG admissions committee. Master's students enter directly into a research lab and finance their own education, as the Microbiology Graduate Group, including its faculty and affiliates, does not offer financial assistance during the master's program. Applicants bear all expenses related to the Microbiology Graduate Program.
The Designated Emphasis in Vector-borne Disease Biology concentrates on studying pathogens, their associated illnesses, and the arthropod vectors that spread these pathogens among plants, animals, and humans. Graduates of this program will be equipped to develop, execute, and assess strategies for preventing and managing agriculturally, veterinarily, and medically significant pathogens.
