The Ethnic Studies major offers a foundational program that fosters a comparative, interdisciplinary approach to examining the histories and cultures of African American, Asian American, Chicano/Latino, and Native American communities.
Through this major, students explore the historical, cultural, political, and sociological aspects of marginalized communities in the U.S., situating them within broader American societal structures. This knowledge equips students to critically analyze modern society and advocate for meaningful change to benefit racial minority groups. The program also serves as excellent preparation for graduate studies across various academic and professional disciplines.
