The Clinical Translational Sciences (CTS) graduate program equips students with comprehensive training in clinical translational research, catering to both post-baccalaureate and postgraduate candidates from clinical or basic science backgrounds. Participants can pursue either a Master of Science (M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in CTS at the University of Arizona. Although administered through the College of Medicine - Tucson, the M.S. program is available at both the Tucson main campus and Phoenix biomedical campus, with opportunities to collaborate with faculty mentors across all Health Sciences colleges.
This program prepares students for research careers in Clinical Translational Sciences by focusing on three key components: (a) foundational knowledge in biostatistics and discipline-specific CTS coursework, (b) hands-on research training leading to an independent project, and (c) professional growth through research ethics, scientific communication, and grant writing experience.
The Master's program aims to broaden students' understanding of clinical translational sciences while allowing specialization in specific biomedical research areas. Students conduct original translational research projects under faculty mentorship in laboratory or clinical settings.
