The 12-hour Graduate Certificate in Global Food Security (GFS) is an interdisciplinary program provided by the International Center for Food Industry Excellence, designed to enhance participants' knowledge of the multifaceted challenges surrounding worldwide food shortages as the population approaches over 9 billion by 2050. The curriculum aligns with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's guidelines for expanded education across food security's four key areas: Availability, Access, Stability, and Utilization. This initiative aims to deepen students' comprehension of GFS components while offering the adaptability to concentrate studies on one specific pillar. Instruction is available both in-person and online through multiple university departments such as Agricultural Education and Communications, Agricultural and Applied Economics, Animal and Food Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, and Plant and Soil Sciences.
