As the inaugural master's program in the US focused on food scholarship, the Food Studies MA integrates humanities and social science perspectives to equip students with tools for examining food through cultural, political, economic, environmental, and geographic lenses across local, urban, and global settings. Our program aims to develop your ability to critically analyze how individuals, communities, and societies grow, distribute, and consume food. Leveraging our prime location in New York City, your studies will emphasize urban centers as hubs for the movement of people, agricultural products, and media influences. You'll learn to employ interdisciplinary methods to comprehend the cultural, political, and economic dimensions of food systems, while evaluating policies that influence food accessibility and cultural preservation.
