Founded through a partnership with culinary legends Jacques Pépin and Julia Child, Boston University's Metropolitan College (MET) offers a distinctive Master of Arts (MA) in Gastronomy program. This interdisciplinary curriculum bridges the arts, humanities, and both natural and social sciences. Participants explore food's significance in past and present cultures through multiple lenses, preparing for professional paths in media, policy, business, education, and beyond.
The History & Culture component delves into food's diverse cultural expressions throughout time. Students develop essential research and analytical abilities while honing their writing proficiency - competencies that serve them in both professional and personal contexts.
