Gain professional-level performance abilities through Temple University's Boyer College of Music and Dance Bachelor of Music (BM) in Performance program. Select from various specialized tracks within this comprehensive 124-credit, full-time undergraduate degree. Receive expert mentorship from distinguished faculty affiliated with prestigious organizations including Opera Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Ballet, and The Philadelphia Orchestra. The Performance BM program combines rigorous musical training with liberal arts education, fostering both individual artistry and collaborative skills through practical experience, opening doors to diverse performance careers. Alongside eight semesters of private instruction and ensemble participation, students study aural skills, music theory, history, and concentration-specific electives. The curriculum includes essential business training for professional musicians. As members of the Center for Performing and Cinematic Arts, Performance BM students can join ensembles and productions at Temple Performing Arts Center, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and New York's renowned Lincoln Center.
Training includes one-on-one lessons with Boyer professors, supplemented by rehearsals, masterclasses, and studio sessions. Opera students perform in two fully staged productions plus opera scenes and recitals. Those focusing on Choral Activities regularly participate in Temple's seven choirs, with chances to perform at professional conferences and an annual Kimmel Center concert with the Temple Symphony Orchestra.
