The Bachelor of Music in Performance offers specialized training in Western classical music performance. This competitive program combines conservatory-quality instruction with the rich academic environment of a liberal arts university.
At Lamont, trombone and euphonium students learn from Richard Harris, a versatile performer with experience as a soloist, ensemble player, and instructor. Previously serving as Assistant Principal Trombone for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Harris has performed with leading American orchestras such as the Boston Symphony and Metropolitan Opera. His recording credits include Grammy-winning albums and Oscar-winning film scores. Beyond his role at DU, Harris teaches at the Raphael Mendez Brass Institute and Idyllwild Summer Academy, while also directing his own RichardTromboneCamp for low brass players each summer in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
