The graduate programs in the Department of Sociology focus on core principles of sociological research (including theory, methodology, and statistics) alongside specialized fields of study. Graduate students have the opportunity to concentrate in multiple disciplines such as Criminal Behavior and Deviance Studies, Ecological Sociology, Societal Stratification, Collective Action Studies, and Sociological Psychology.
Program Requirements
Completion of 91 credit hours post-bachelor's degree or 60 credit hours post-master's degree
Foundational coursework in sociological theories and research methods
Comprehensive examinations covering two of five specialization fields: Criminal Behavior and Deviance Studies, Ecological Sociology, Societal Stratification, Collective Action Studies, and Sociological Psychology
Final dissertation project
