Cultural Studies examines, analyzes, and reshapes cultural phenomena. Students who earn degrees in Cultural Studies often pursue academic careers in fields like English, Communication, History, Anthropology, or Sociology, as well as interdisciplinary areas such as Film and Media Studies, Gender Studies, Global Studies, and Cultural Studies proper. Many graduates utilize their academic expertise in practical environments, working at cultural institutions like museums or with advocacy groups, service organizations, and NGOs.
The Cultural Studies Program prepares students for both research and education. Doctoral candidates typically enter with Master's degrees in anthropology, English, history, sociology, or related fields, bringing with them a passion for progressive scholarship and cross-disciplinary approaches. The program's foundational courses equip students with comprehensive knowledge of cultural studies' principal methodologies and traditions.
