The Sociology Department at CU Boulder's graduate program aims to cultivate innovative and accomplished scholars and educators. With a robust foundation in sociological theories and methodologies, the program concentrates on key specializations including: Criminology, Cultural Sociology, Environmental Studies and Disaster Research, Gender and Sexuality Studies, Health and Medical Sociology, Life Course and Aging Research, Political Economy, Population Studies, Qualitative Research Methods, Race and Ethnic Relations, and Social Psychology. The PhD curriculum emphasizes teaching excellence, research skills, and theoretical/methodological training. While the program primarily serves doctoral candidates, students earn their master's degree as part of the PhD track, as we don't provide a standalone MA program.
