The sociology graduate program provides comprehensive training across multiple specialized fields: education, family dynamics, life course studies, sexualities, global inequality and transformation, migration patterns, demographic studies, organizational behavior, workplace dynamics, social stratification (including race, ethnicity, gender, and class), political sociology, social movements, network analysis, and democratic studies. Our approach combines strong theoretical foundations with rigorous empirical research. We actively encourage interdisciplinary collaboration, fostering connections with departments across campus and external institutions. Our methodological toolkit is diverse, incorporating ethnographic research, experimental designs, mathematical modeling, historical-comparative approaches, and survey techniques to address significant theoretical and practical questions. While we offer both Master's and Doctoral degrees, our primary focus is on PhD-level education.
Students in the program come from diverse educational, ethnic, geographical, and social backgrounds.
