The Sociology Department provides graduate studies culminating in a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), designed for those pursuing careers in research and education across academic and non-academic environments. While the department doesn't grant standalone Master's degrees, Ph.D. candidates will earn one as part of their doctoral training. The curriculum covers both qualitative and quantitative research methods, sociological theories, and key areas including gender studies, environmental sociology, race and ethnicity, cultural analysis, social networks, labor studies, migration, and political economy. With a strong focus on research, numerous opportunities exist for students to collaborate on faculty-led projects.
