Our sociology doctoral program provides the freedom to focus on your specific research interests while engaging in rigorous advanced study. You'll explore theoretical frameworks and research methods while customizing your academic path to align with your background and aspirations. Our expert faculty concentrate on diverse fields including criminology, family dynamics, social inequality, medical sociology, and urban/environmental studies. We actively support students in disseminating their findings through publications and participating in organizations like the American Sociological Association. The department particularly excels in criminal justice studies, family sociology, class structures, healthcare systems, and environmental sociology. Doctoral candidates can choose to specialize in one of these established concentrations or develop an alternative focus with guidance from two qualified faculty members.
