The Ohio State University College of Dentistry offers the nation's fourth largest public Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) program. Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, prior to admission is preferred; however, an applicant must complete a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited four-year college or university. Specific undergraduate major that focuses on a strong science core such as biology or chemistry is beneficial.
  • An overall GPA of 3.6, a science GPA of 3.5, and DAT scores of 20 are considered competitive.
  • To be considered for an interview, applicants must meet minimum requirements:
  • DAT AA: 17, DAT PAT: 17, DAT Total Science: 17, Total GPA 3.0, Total Science GPA 3.0
  • Observation hours - minimum of 40 hours of observation. Paid hours should not be included; they should be included under employment.
  • Overall strength of your application file including personal statement, essays, volunteer and community service, co- and extra-curricular involvement, work experience, etc.

English Language requirements:

  • 577 or higher on the paper-based TOEFL
  • 90 or higher on the Internet-based TOEFL (IBT)
  • 84 MELAB
  • 7.5 or higher on the IELTS
