Our doctoral program in community and behavioral health equips graduate students with expertise in health promotion and behavioral modification through a public health lens. The curriculum and research focus on critical areas including maternal and child wellness, youth health, teenage parenting, health inequities, weight management, dietary needs, food accessibility, infectious diseases, substance use disorders, psychological wellbeing, and community design. PhD candidates in community and behavioral health promotion develop competencies across core public health domains (environmental health, disease patterns, statistical analysis, and policy management), ensuring their seamless transition into the public health field after completing their studies.
The CBHP doctorate program specializes in educating students about the social and behavioral dimensions of public health science, with special attention to community-based intervention strategies. Faculty research concentrations span: maternal and pediatric health, health equity, metabolic disorders, nutritional science, food availability, infectious disease control, youth development, violence reduction, addiction prevention, healthy community design, and psychological wellness. Through independent scholarly investigation, students develop the skills needed for leadership roles in public health.
