Physician Assistants (PAs) are healthcare professionals who work under physician supervision. Their practice parameters are defined by state regulations and their supervising doctor. PAs conduct patient evaluations, interpret diagnostic tests, establish diagnoses, create treatment strategies in coordination with physicians, prescribe medications nationwide, provide health counseling, deliver hospital care, and participate in surgical procedures. These medical professionals serve in academic settings, hospitals without resident physicians, clinics, group practices, emergency departments, private offices, and long-term care facilities.
With the evolving responsibilities of PAs, Northeastern has continually updated its educational programs. Although PA training primarily focuses on comprehensive medicine, over 25% of graduates now pursue specialty fields.
Northeastern leads in innovative PA deployment strategies. The program prepares students as primary care generalists while equipping them for cutting-edge healthcare developments and emerging practice areas.
