The Biomedical Sciences-Physiology Interdisciplinary Ph.D. program equips graduates with expertise in diverse physiological fields such as cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, neuroendocrine, reproductive, and exercise physiology. The curriculum emphasizes an integrated methodology for both research and advanced education, incorporating contemporary molecular and cellular technologies to investigate human health conditions.
Instruction is provided by faculty from multiple departments across Kent State University, Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), and Cleveland Clinic's Lerner Research Institute. While students can pursue research across various specialties, faculty expertise is categorized into two primary concentrations: (1) environmental and comparative physiology and (2) cardiopulmonary and exercise physiology. These specializations cover distinct physiological domains, each supported by dedicated faculty mentors. This research-intensive program ensures comprehensive training in physiological concepts and methodologies within clearly defined academic tracks.
This doctoral program in Biomedical Sciences-Physiology is collaboratively administered with Cleveland Clinic and Northeast Ohio Medical University.
