The graduate Printmaking program provides comprehensive studio facilities covering all major printmaking techniques. Spanning nearly 4,000 square feet, the Printmaking area features specialized workspaces for intaglio/relief, lithography, screen printing, and papermaking. Alongside 24/7 accessible studios, printmaking graduate students receive private workspaces adjacent to the main print area. The intaglio studio houses one compact and two full-sized etching presses, a Vandercook proof press, connected acid/darkroom facilities, an oversized soaking sink, drying racks, and flat file storage. The lithography workspace includes two presses, a graining sink, and a collection of about forty stones. Screen printing facilities offer screens, a dedicated washout area with high-pressure sprayer, darkroom with large exposure unit, storage racks, and individual printing stations. The Papermaking studio contains a 30-ton hydraulic press, two drying presses with cabinet, Clark-Hollander beater, McDonald bast stamper, Hilger vacuum table, plus various vats and sheet molds. Students are urged to explore diverse printmaking methods to develop their artistic vision. The program culminates in a professional-quality thesis exhibition demonstrating technical mastery and conceptual depth, equipping graduates for advancement in the visual arts field.
