Kansas State University's Master of Fine Arts is a prestigious terminal degree program recognized by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). This M.F.A. equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to thrive as professional artists and designers, teach at the collegiate level, or explore diverse careers in the arts. The curriculum centers on a chosen specialization, complemented by experimental studio work, historical and contemporary research, and vibrant idea-sharing opportunities. Specialization options span ceramics, drawing, digital/experimental media (D/X media), painting, printmaking, photography, metalsmithing and jewelry, sculpture, and visual communication design. Cross-disciplinary studio work that bridges multiple art forms is actively promoted.
Based in the Department of Art, M.F.A. candidates benefit from close guidance by Graduate Faculty members who maintain active professional practices through exhibitions, client projects, social engagement, or publications. Program participants are required to maintain on-campus studio residency throughout each academic semester for the entire duration of their studies.
