Our department's purpose is to cultivate an academic environment that empowers undergraduate and graduate students to gain expertise and interdisciplinary competencies for more profound engagement with Africa's past and present, as well as its global significance. We aim to prepare African American, American, international, and minority graduates with the analytical tools and cross-disciplinary training needed for careers in African affairs, international relations, education, research, and development initiatives.
