The Environmental Science and Engineering (ESE) AB and SB programs offer interdisciplinary studies centered on analyzing, forecasting, and addressing environmental challenges. Participants undergo comprehensive education spanning physics, chemistry, engineering, ecology, and mathematical modeling, equipping them with distinctive insights into the interconnected solutions required for environmental issues. The curriculum includes specialized courses in energy systems, climate studies, water resources, and environmental contaminants. Practical learning occurs through fieldwork, lab experiments, computational modeling, and big data initiatives, collaborating with ESE's globally renowned faculty. Opportunities also exist to engage in research projects with SEAS faculty across various disciplines.
Harvard College refers to academic majors as concentrations. Prospective undergraduates, including aspiring engineering and applied sciences students, apply directly to Harvard College. By spring of their sophomore year, students declare their concentration or specialized area of study, selecting from 50 primary concentrations and 49 secondary fields (information sourced from Harvard DSO website).
Students must complete their high school from the recognized institution.
