The Women and Gender Studies program was established on the foundational model of a three-legged approach: education, scholarship, and advocacy. Our curriculum features a dynamic selection of courses for both undergraduate and graduate students, examining structures of inequality across gender, sexuality, race, class, ability, religion, and global regions. Students at all academic levels who choose to study women and gender studies participate in interdisciplinary examinations of gender's role in societal, political, cultural, and economic contexts, historical perspectives on gender, media representations of women, feminist philosophies, the connection between biological sex and gender identity, how factors like race, class, ability, and sexual orientation shape lived experiences, and the effects of gender norms on personal identity and interpersonal relationships. Numerous courses provide students with chances to explore these topics through multicultural and international lenses.
