Gender Studies provides undergraduates with the chance to design a specialized academic path centered on gender and sexuality. Working closely with a Gender Studies advisor, students can develop either a gender-focused track within a traditional discipline or an interdisciplinary approach to gender-related subjects—or a blend of both. Following the foundational Problems in Gender Studies course sequence, learners can assemble a curated selection of classes united by their examination of gender as a subject or their application of gender frameworks to explore themes in sexuality, society, science, politics, culture, literature, arts, or philosophical systems. Housed in the Center for Gender Studies (founded in 1996), the program brings together scholarship in feminist, LGBTQ+, and queer studies. Beyond advancing academic discourse and research on campus, the Center aims to engage with broader societal conversations where gender and sexuality intersect with political, artistic, and intellectual movements.
