Florida A&M's Veterinary Technology Program aims to educate students while providing science-backed herd health guidance to community members and extension staff, enhancing the wellbeing, productivity, and care of livestock.
As one of just 23 U.S. programs offering a four-year veterinary technology degree, FAMU's Vet Tech program uniquely focuses on regulatory training, equipping graduates for diverse veterinary careers. During the initial two years, students complete foundational coursework before advancing to hands-on training. At the FAMU Animal Complex in Quincy, Florida, learners practice veterinary terminology and demonstrate professional conduct under the supervision of licensed veterinarians and technologists. The facility features equine, small ruminant, and swine populations for extension, research, and instructional purposes, along with dedicated kennel space for cats and dogs.
