Students can pursue education in various nutrition-related fields, including biological and social sciences. Those focusing on laboratory research in nutrition typically minor in biochemistry, molecular biology, or genetics, though other minors are available. For students drawn to community and global nutrition, active programs offer hands-on experience both domestically and internationally. Ph.D. candidates choose two minor concentrations, with at least one in their primary field. All degree programs mandate a thesis or dissertation, with specific guidelines set by each student's Special Committee. As part of their training, graduate students usually participate in teaching assignments.
