The Therapeutic Sciences PhD Program was created to broaden and combine our established PhD offerings in Molecular Pharmacology & Physiology (MPP) and Biotechnology. While maintaining its foundation in pharmacology, physiology, and biotechnology, this program now encompasses additional areas within the growing field of therapeutics. Students explore diverse topics such as immune system drug targets for infectious disease treatment, neurological addiction pathways for therapeutic development, molecular disease interactions, cancer progression and prevention strategies, and cellular/tissue-based treatment approaches. This program provides specialized education for careers in biological and medical research, emphasizing disease mechanism investigation, pharmaceutical effects analysis, and innovative treatment development. Partial funding comes from an NIH T32 training grant administered by NIGMS's Pharmacological Sciences Program.
