Our department boasts dedicated faculty in French, Italian, Spanish, and Translation studies, providing exceptional guidance for your research projects. You'll join our vibrant Graduate School community, collaborating with fellow scholars across diverse fields. We offer one-year MPhil programs and three-year PhD opportunities. Research specializations include: French and Francophone West African culture, Italian studies, Latin American and Spanish literature (19th-20th centuries), women's authorship and readership, modern history (with emphasis on WWII), intellectual history, and translation studies.
You normally require to have a first-class or upper second-class UK Honours degree, or overseas equivalent, in Spanish, French or Italian. For postgraduate studies, we require a minimum overall IELTS score of 6.5 or equivalent (no individual test score below 5.5, the test must be taken within two years of the programme start date).
