Prior to commencing your research degree, you'll need to finish a master's program focused on research preparation in a relevant field and finalize your research topic with both a primary supervisor and co-supervisor. Throughout your studies, you'll collaborate closely with this supervisory team while also having the opportunity to seek guidance from other department members whose expertise aligns with your research. Mandatory attendance includes all departmental research seminars and special lectures, along with presenting at least one paper annually—typically at the Postgraduate Forum or a work-in-progress seminar.
After three years of full-time enrollment, plus an optional additional year for thesis completion, you'll submit an 80,000-100,000 word dissertation that offers meaningful insights into Russian and East European languages, culture, or history.
