Prior to commencing your research degree, you must complete a master's program in a related field and finalize your research topic with both a primary and secondary supervisor. Throughout your studies, you'll collaborate closely with this supervisory team and may seek guidance from other department members whose work aligns with your research.
Attendance at all departmental research seminars and special lectures is mandatory, along with presenting at least one annual paper - typically at either the Postgraduate Forum or a work-in-progress seminar.
Following three years of full-time study (plus an optional writing-up year), you'll produce an 80,000-100,000 word thesis in English or Portuguese that offers meaningful new insights into Hispanic or Lusophone studies.
