This distinctive and adaptable program blends university-level French, Spanish, or Japanese language studies with exploration of translation concepts and modern media in our rapidly evolving global landscape.

Your language acquisition will encompass reading and listening exercises, bidirectional translation between English and your chosen language, précis and paraphrasing tasks, analysis of various styles and registers, vocabulary-building activities, and speaking practice. All coursework utilizes current materials rather than historical or literary texts. During your year abroad, you'll apply these concepts while significantly enhancing your linguistic and communication abilities, preparing for advanced language courses in your final year.

You have the option to study an additional language either as part of your degree or through a non-credit certified module. Available choices may include Arabic, British Sign Language, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Russian, or Advanced English, depending on course availability.
