The Creative and Critical Writing PhD Program is designed for aspiring authors looking to produce a significant, publishable creative project. Our MA in Creative Writing serves as excellent preparation for those considering doctoral studies. Cardiff's PhD initiative welcomes writers across genres—from fiction and poetry to screenwriting and nonfiction—who want to be part of a dynamic literary community focused on developing major creative research projects. The curriculum requires a critical component where students analyze their creative output within broader scholarly frameworks and assess its theoretical significance.
