Given the intense competition for Veterinary Medicine programs among school leavers, many qualified applicants with the right skills and mindset for successful veterinary careers struggle to gain admission. By expanding opportunities for graduates with relevant academic backgrounds and offering a specialized four-year curriculum for graduate students, we've broadened student diversity and created more pathways into the profession.
Applicants for this four-year program must hold an undergraduate degree in biological, biomedical, or animal sciences. This graduate-focused curriculum aims to train future veterinarians to meet global standards while preparing them for careers in clinical practice, research, and public health.
Students complete their clinical rotations mainly at UCD Veterinary Hospital in Beleld, which treats various companion animals, livestock, and equine patients.
Veterinary Medicine education sometimes involves working with animal-derived materials. All such materials are obtained ethically in strict accordance with university guidelines. Prospective students with ethical objections to using animal materials in instruction should reconsider applying to this program.
