Our Certificate and Diploma programs are ideal for those seeking academic credentials before entering horse-related professions. These courses address the economic and cultural significance of equine industries in Ireland and internationally, meeting the demand for skilled professionals. After two years, you can earn a Certificate or continue to Diploma or Degree programs. Advancement to the Diploma in Science (Equine Science) requires achieving at least Second Class Honours Grade 2 in the Certificate program.
The curriculum covers equine science, horsemanship, and equine business, creating a versatile foundation for career development. Each semester typically includes elective modules, letting you tailor studies to your goals. Diploma in Science (Equine Science) students can specialize in either business or equitation.
Each semester consists of 5 modules with strong industry relevance. At the University of Limerick, you'll experience diverse industry methods and learn from expert guest lecturers. Many courses incorporate fieldwork or visits to leading facilities, balancing scientific theory with practical horse handling.
The program includes an extensive cooperative education component, which students often value highly for applying classroom knowledge in real-world settings. This experiential learning fosters professional growth and networking opportunities, both in Ireland and internationally.
