Urban and regional planning, including its various specialized branches, has been established as a professional discipline in Canada and globally for many years. Established in 1951 by Dr. H.P. Oberlander, the School of Community and Regional Planning (SCARP) ranks among Canada's most historic planning institutions. SCARP's guiding principle is 'Achieving Sustainability through Inclusive Planning Practices,' and to realize this goal, the school is dedicated to promoting sustainable development via outstanding interdisciplinary policy research, professional training, and community engagement. The newly introduced Master of Community and Regional Planning (MCRP) program aims to support SCARP's vision by equipping students with contemporary knowledge, progressive teaching methods, fundamental theories, practical skills, and analytical capabilities necessary to tackle intricate societal and ecological challenges in an increasingly urbanized global context. This rigorous, career-focused program produces versatile, thoughtful, and innovative professionals capable of driving meaningful change.
