St. Francis Xavier University's Master of Adult Education (MAdEd) program emphasizes the connection between theoretical concepts and practical applications across diverse fields involving adult learning, such as community settings, colleges, and healthcare. Our approach recognizes that adults possess valuable life experiences that serve as foundational knowledge. By consciously examining and reflecting on their professional, personal, and volunteer experiences, adults can enhance their learning and apply these insights in countless situations.
During periods of significant transformation, learning within professional, workplace, and community environments becomes essential for effective adjustment, development, and perseverance. Catering to working professionals seeking to enhance their analytical skills, we offer Canada's longest-running distance and part-time Master of Adult Education program.
For over five decades, students have consistently praised our faculty for their "personalized attention and support" as well as their ability to "connect course material to wider adult education concepts."
This 30-credit graduate program provides two study pathways:
A coursework track (comprising ten 3-credit courses)
A research thesis track (six 3-credit courses plus a 12-credit thesis). The thesis option is recommended for those considering advanced academic pursuits.
Instruction occurs through blended synchronous and asynchronous formats during various time slots (including evenings and select weekends).
Participants have a three-year window to fulfill all degree requirements.
The program does not require any on-campus residency.
