The UBC Adult Learning and Education graduate program aims to foster knowledge creation, refinement, sharing, and practical implementation related to adult education across various settings. It cultivates thoughtful scholars and practitioners who critically influence social structures to advance inclusive lifelong learning opportunities.

As Canada's longest-running graduate program in adult education, the Adult Learning and Education (ALE) program traces its origins to social welfare initiatives, community building efforts, and extension education. ALE focuses on developing academic leaders and professionals capable of transforming society through universal lifelong learning. The program encourages students to examine adult learning environments through multiple theoretical lenses while considering their professional responsibilities within these contexts.
