The Women's and Gender Studies program at StFX offers an interdisciplinary undergraduate education that examines gender through scholarly and community perspectives. This program teaches students to analyze gender as a critical framework while reflecting on its personal significance. It investigates how gender intersects with race, class, ability, and sexuality in both individual experiences and broader social contexts. The curriculum highlights the academic and societal impact of Women's and Gender Studies scholarship.

Distinguished by its collaborative academic setting and dedicated faculty, the program combines classroom learning with community engagement. Faculty from diverse disciplines including sociology, religious studies, and nursing contribute their expertise.

The program organizes various events throughout the year, featuring feminist leaders, academics, and creative professionals. An annual award recognizes outstanding graduating students in Women's and Gender Studies.

Students can pursue several degree options: an Honours BA with an arts subsidiary, a Major BA, a Joint Major combining Women's and Gender Studies with another arts discipline, or a Subsidiary/Minor concentration. As outlined in chapter 4, Arts, Business, and Science students can complete a paired program. Prospective students are encouraged to meet with the program coordinator early in their academic planning.
