Women's and Gender Studies employs an intersectional lens to examine societal issues and occurrences. It focuses particularly on how colonialism, racism, ageism, homophobia, and transphobia influence concepts of sex, gender, and sexuality, alongside distinctions rooted in class, (dis)ability, religion, ethnicity, and cultural background. Our distinctive department introduces these viewpoints to academic discourse and embodies feminist principles within higher education. Our courses welcome students of all gender identities and sexual orientations to explore feminist efforts combating sexism, exploitation, and interconnected forms of societal oppression. We champion student diversity and curricular variety while providing tools to drive meaningful social transformation.
Today's landscape shows increasing demand for Women's and Gender Studies graduates across multiple sectors including social services, education, policy-making, healthcare, counseling, legal fields, media, public sector roles, financial services, and organizational leadership.
