This program equips you with versatile skills in analytical reasoning, investigation, composition, debate, interpretation, and effective communication.
As a unique offering among Canadian institutions, the GESJ curriculum challenges students to critically examine power dynamics globally - questioning who holds influence, why, and methods for transforming power structures to advance equity. The interdisciplinary program maintains strong connections with Social Welfare and Social Development, Religions and Cultures, Political Science, and Philosophy, catering to learners passionate about: critical pop culture analysis; legal strategies against inequality; global human rights issues; conflict resolution and international justice; transnational activism; colonial histories; feminist thought; postmodern theory; justice frameworks; and intersections of identity markers including race, class, ability, and gender.
GESJ students gain comprehensive humanities and social sciences training. Using multiple academic lenses, you'll explore how society shapes concepts of gender, sexuality, race and class, and how these constructs influence knowledge systems, personal experiences, interpersonal relationships, and overall life quality.
