Innis College provides courses supporting two interdisciplinary programs: Urban Studies (URB) and Writing and Rhetoric (WRR). The college also houses the Cinema Studies Institute, featuring an extensive selection of courses (CIN) detailed separately. The Innis One Program draws inspiration from these academic offerings and the college's close ties with the Cinema Studies Institute.
The Urban Studies program at Innis equips students with analytical skills for understanding urban environments. This program explores the intricate relationships between institutions, communities, and urban landscapes that shape city development. Ideal for students seeking multidisciplinary urban education, it particularly benefits those interested in Toronto's urban challenges. The curriculum includes internship opportunities with municipal offices, non-profits, or government agencies as part of its hands-on learning approach. Given the diversity of urban topics, Urban Studies complements many other academic disciplines. Students should consult the Program Director when tailoring their studies to personal interests. The program actively encourages participation in the University of Toronto's Study Elsewhere initiative to expand urban knowledge globally.
