Women's Studies focuses on analyzing women's societal roles throughout history and acknowledging their impact on human progress. The program teaches students to view women's experiences through intersecting perspectives of gender, race, class, and sexuality. This field of study provides crucial insights often absent from conventional academic disciplines while challenging discriminatory narratives based on identity factors.

Housed within the Simone de Beauvoir Institute, Canada's pioneering women's studies program offers a comprehensive curriculum examining both historical and modern forms of women's oppression and empowerment, with particular attention to underrepresented groups. Students analyze portrayals of women in media and consumer society, engage with Institute-hosted events, and create projects advancing equity and justice. The program fosters student-led academic discussions and partnerships with community groups for research and activism initiatives.
